KaribaRidge is dedicated to producing not only a good looking dog but a great companion animal that is athletic and of sound body and mind. KaribaRidge dogs are, first and foremost, our pets. They live in the house and are family raised (where else would you expect a great personal companion to be raised?).I believe in both physical and mental soundness. It does not matter how beautiful a dog is if he/she cannot move well or has a poor temperament. I believe that someone purchasing a dog from KaribaRidge deserves a healthy animal ,free of physical faults so that it can participate in all the activities its family are involved in. I firmly believe in health clearances. Dogs used in my breeding program are Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) certified for hips and elbows, thyroid, CERF, BEAR and Cardio rated good or above. While hip dysplasia is not much of a problem with Ridgeback's, I have all breeding dogs OFA registered to be sure it will never become a problem. All KaribaRidge puppies are fully guaranteed against inherited health problems. Pet puppies are sold only on Non-Breeding contracts. Show puppies are sold on the condition they are shown to their championship and obtain all applicable health clearances before being bred. No puppy is sold for the sole purpose of breeding!
Location: KaribaRidge is located on two acres of land in the County of Newell, (approximately two hour drive East of Calgary, Alberta) with access to over 250 acres for exercise, hunting and chasing.
SHOW or PET? What does it mean?
A show/breeding dog is one who has no obvious show faults, at evaluation, that would be detrimental to completing' its championship title.
A pet/non-breeding dog is one who probably would not finish or would have considerable trouble finishing.
Show or Pet, dogs are created for unconditional love! At KaribaRidge ,I strive to find the best humane caring homes for each dog to get the love and care they deserve. In that sense, there is no such thing as an inferior dog!
